The 19th International AIDS Conference last week shared good news and bad: A cure, or at least a vaccine, seems less distant. Last year the number of people receiving life-giving antiretroviral treatment rose 20% to 8 million. Yet, there are still another 8 million people waiting for antiretroviral medicines that are either too costly or those who need them have no access to treatment.
