Welcome (again), Russell Miller
Russell was born into our church family in April, 1997, and baptized the following
September. He is the son of Chip and Susan Miller and brother to Audrey. He went through a Confirmation class this past spring and joined DHPC by Profession of Faith. He gave his faith journey to the Session on April 15th. He will be in the 10th grade at Grady next year. His favorite subjects are Math and Science. He is a member of the Robotics Club at school. This past April he attended the FIRST International Championship, an international robotics competition in St. Louis. He worked this competition as part of the volunteer team. FIRST is an acronym: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. The goal of the competition was to develop a robot that could play basketball.
Russell is a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and a dream job would be working in the front office of a baseball team. He intends to attend college and study engineering, so Georgia Tech is a school he is considering when he graduates from high school. He is interested in aerospace engineering. Scott Hulsey serves as a mentor to Russell.
This summer Russell attended Montreat. He enjoyed meeting youth from other parts of the United States. He liked the small group experience the best, where he could get to know people better. In June he went on vacation with his family and the Gartman family to St. George Island where they enjoyed the beach, shopping for antiques in Apalachicola, and watching soccer leading up to the World Cup. We are proud to have as a full-fledged member such a mature and fine young person. We will certainly be watching, praying for and supporting Russell as he makes important choices regarding school and career in the next few years.
